Sailor Readiness
Family Readiness = Mission Readiness summarizes the formula for the mental health professionals and leadership of the Naval Branch Health Clinic (BHC) aboard Naval Construction Battalion Center, Gulfport, Mississippi. The BHC Gulfport serves a highly deployed military population. Naval Construction Battalion Center Gulfport is a Fleet concentration area for Sea Bees; one of only two homeport locations for operational battalions. The selectee will have direct patient care in an outpatient setting, and will include emergency evaluations, oversight of the local substance abuse until will also be required. Examines, diagnoses, treats or recommends course of management for patients with mental illness. The primary scope of care includes the practice of specialty care medicine in the Mental Health Department. Case workload includes, but not limited to Mental Combat Related Disorder i.e., Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury.

In this position, you will perform meaningful professional work in the field of Psychiatry.
A typical day includes:
Evaluate and treat outpatients using laboratory and clinical findings to differentiate between contributory causes;
Follow through on cases to ensure treatment effectiveness and alter course of treatment as indicated;
Collaborate with specialists in other areas on cases involving multidisciplinary problems;
Prepare consults on chronic complicated mentally ill patients requiring complex evaluation and medical decision-making to specialists in the hospital or to other medical facilities;
Lead coordination of behavioral health services between multiple organizations to foster improved interaction and understanding of needs in the shared population and enhance care.
Scheduling, assigning and directing the work and activities of all assigned personnel;
Establishing work priorities and deadlines;
Oversight and evaluation of subordinate staff for clinical competency.

Degree: MD or DO from accredited school in the United States or Canada. Is your medical degree from a foreign medical school? Active, valid, unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
5 years of residency training or equivalent experience and training in Psychiatry? Your resume must reflect you have a sufficient level of expertise in Psychiatry to perform the core privileges of this position at the GP-15 Level. This includes, but is not limited to, the following: Examination, diagnosis, and treatment of people who are mentally or emotionally ill or suffering from personality disturbances, and/or management of psychiatric services.
Satisfy BUMEDs clinical privileges requirements which, in addition to the above, includes the following:
Completion of aPsychiatry residency approved by the American specialty board or AOA, board certification, or board eligible inPsychiatry.
Current clinical competence (e.g., privileged to independently practicePsychiatry within the past 2 years, actively practicedPsychiatry within the past 2 years by having encountered a sufficient number of clinical cases to represent a broad spectrum of the privileges required).
No health status contraindications to granting clinical privileges.
Note: Board certification is desired but not required.
