As a GS-5 Secretary, you will:
Serve as the principal office support for the assigned Resident Services Sections. This includes performing a variety of clerical, administrative, and records management functions that support the staff and residents. Screen incoming telephone calls for applicants requesting information; record and transmit messages; schedule and receive payments for Guest Suites for Residents and visitors; screen visitors for campus entry and arrange accommodations for overnight tours; maintain schedules and transmit appointment notifications for Legal Visits from local Military Bases, the Veterans Services Organization, and other outside facilities. Coordinate work outside the organization where procedures and administrative controls are equivalent to those typical of a larger, more complicated office. Use a computer and various software packages to prepare documents, memoranda, notices, appointment reminders, and various correspondence for the Admissions Division in Resident Services. Ensure Resident customer service productivity by maintaining daily/monthly calendars for Guest Suites; scheduling Resident, family members and POA's appointments; professional meetings, services and appointments. Organize and maintain files and records, guide and other related material required for efficient operations of the Admissions Division of Resident Services. Experience:
For the GS-05, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Applying a standardized body of rules, procedures, and operations sufficient to perform a full range of support assignments (examples of support assignments may include:
reviewing reports, recognizing errors, and reconciling problems); AND Providing customer service. OR You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows:
4 years above high school. OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. NOTE:
Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-5 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest nontemporary competitive appointment. Time After Competitive Appointment:
Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
